No one should need an excuse to go wine tasting in Portland, but we at PDX Urban Wineries are coming up with one anyway – the best one yet.
This Saturday and Sunday, August 17 and 18, is our summer Urban Wine Tasting Weekend. That’s our special weekend each season to promote wine tasting in the full production wineries of the City of Roses.
Winery tasting rooms are open normal hours, with Urban Wine Tasting Weekend being a time to highlight that you can go wine country touring and tasting right here in Portland’s city limits. A groundswell of urban tasting, if you will.
There’s no plan you have to follow. Make up your own route. Just get out there and do it.
You could start at Seven Bridges Winery in N. Portland and taste incredible reds from Walla Walla and beyond made right here in Portland, from some of the top vineyards in Washington. Or try the fabulous Oregon wines of Alchemy Wine Productions in SE Portland, Pinot Noir, Sryah, and Viognier among them.
Then eat lunch at one of Portland’s array of fine restaurants, food carts, or even at one of our member wineries Clay Pigeon, with their lovely Cyril’s restaurant and wine bar.
Then swing by Hip Chicks Do Wine in SE Portland and think about your next stop. Or visit ENSO Winery on SE Stark, or the Southeast Wine Collective, home to three PDXUW member wineries right in one location of SE Divison? And what about our newest member Viola Cellars, where you can taste at their wine shop Cork on NE Alberta?
The point is – you can have a wine country touring experience right here in town, at our Portland urban wineries, with winemakers and winery proprietors ready and happy to meet you as you go.
That’s what the Urban Wine Tasting Weekend is about. Wine tasting right here in Portland. We hope to see you and your friends on the urban wine trail this weekend.
