Tickets are now available for the 3rd annual PDX Urban Wine Experience tasting event on June 9, 4-7pm, at Refuge PDX, 116 SE Yamhill in Portland, Oregon.

All PDX Urban Wineries members will be on hand pouring their latest releases, with bottle sales available at the event so you can take home your favorite wines.

And do not miss this – if you buy your event ticket by June 4, you’ll get $15 credited back toward your bottle purchase at the event. That means you essentially get $15 worth of wine to take home for free after tasting lots of excellent, Portland-made wine.

Why are we doing this? One, because people often come to tasting events like this and don’t necessarily think that we’re hoping you’ll take home your favorite wines from the day. It’s ok – pick your favorites and take them home with you!

Plus, we’re partnering with Indie Vinos, a fast growing Portland start-up with an incredibly cool mobile app that’s all about getting to know, reviewing and being able to purchase small production wines from indie producers just like all of the members of PDX Urban Wineries.

Come to the event, taste the wines of Portland, check out Indie Vinos’ free app and, if you like what you taste, buy wine right on the spot. Don’t worry – you don’t need to use the app to purchase at the event. We’re just excited about Indie Vinos and think it’s a great way to connect with producers like us, with no strings attached. Indie Vinos even coordinates shipping if you’re out of the Portland area.

Also, we’ll have delicious bites to nosh on while you taste. You don’t want to miss this premier tasting event of Portland-based wineries. See you there.

We’re delighted to announce the release of the PDX Urban Wineries Passport. This companion piece to the wildly successfully Distillery Row Passport gives beverage enthusiasts another way to taste all over the city of Portland.

Just like the Distillery Row Passport, the PDX Urban Wineries Passport gives wine enthusiasts access to special tastings and discounts at wineries all over the city of Portland. The wineries include Alchemy Wine Productions, ENSO Winery, Hip Chicks to Wine, Jan-Marc Wine Cellars, Seven Bridges Winery, and the Southeast Wine Collective that’s home to Division Winemaking Company, Helioterra Wines, and Vincent Wine Company.

Plus there are several partner restaurants and retail shops featured in the passport with special discounts available to passport holders. Places like Noble Rot, Blackbird Wine, Cyril’s at Clay Pigeon, The Meadow, The Bent Brick and many more. There are even discounts for PDX Pedicab and Portland Short Bus to help you get around town for a day of tasting.

How does is all work? Simple. Buy a PDX Urban Wineries Passport online for just $20, or purchase direct from any of the wineries featured in the passport. Then take the passport with you to any of the wineries and you’ll receive a free tasting as well as a 10% discount on any bottled wine purchase that day.

Use the Passport however you like. Plan a day of tasting at several wineries around Portland, or visit one at a time, or anything in between. Just make sure you present you Passport at each stop, and each winery will stamp your booklet to show you’ve successfully completed your visit there. The partner discounts work the same way. You must present your Passport to receive your benefit.

Winery tastings have no expiration date, but some partner discounts may expire after June 2014. Still, that gives you plenty of time to get a ton of value out of the PDX Urban Wineries Passport. Hope to see you on the Portland wine trail soon.

SE WINE COLLECTIVE BRINGS FULL WINE COUNTRY EXPERIENCE WITHIN PORTLAND CITY LIMITS

New leading edge urban winery, offering wine production services, a premier tasting bar and event space rental in the heart of the vibrant SE Division-Clinton neighborhood, features four of Portland’s top up and coming brands

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 19, 2012) – Those looking for the full Oregon wine experience can now travel just four miles from downtown Portland to the new Southeast Wine Collective to not only see artisanal wineries at work producing wines, but simultaneously enjoy the multiple brands at the Collective’s tasting bar. The Collective will open in August at the corner of SE 35th Pl. and SE Division St., an eclectic area that has become a hub for some of Portland’s top restaurants and nightlife. Founded and conceived by Kate and Tom Monroe and designed by architect Joe Karmen, the new facility and its location are unique, offering ultra-urban wine production for winemaking clients and tenants, wine to enjoy in the tasting bar or to take home, as well as beer and tasty bites, and a large event facility rental for a range of special event types. To start, Vincent Wine Company, Bow & Arrow Wines, Helioterra Wines and Division Winemaking Company will take up residence at the SE Wine Collective to produce their wines. Tastes, glass pours, and whole bottles of their finished products will be available once the Southeast Wine Collective’s tasting bar opens in September.

“We built the Southeast Wine Collective as a place for like-minded winemakers to come together, collaborate and build their business, much like an incubator, through commercial wine production, wine sales and events within Portland’s city limits,” says SE Wine Collective’s co-founder Thomas Monroe. “This year the Collective will produce about 5,000 cases worth of crushed and fermented grapes. We hope to increase that as well as foster up and coming brands within the next few years.”

The Wineries:

Division Winemaking Company: “Pair with good times, good food and good people” is the philosophy of the Division Winemaking Company, founded in 2010 by Kate and Thomas Monroe. Inspired by the wineries of Loire, Beaujolais and Burgundy regions of France, they create sustainably farmed Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay and Rosé.

Vincent Wines: Vincent Fritzsche founded the winery in 2009 with the goal of low input winemaking, buying great Pinot Noir fruit from local vineyards and letting them become wine with minimal fuss.

Helioterra Wines: Helioterra is a small, artisan producer of Oregon wines that are pretty, elegant and graceful in style. Winemaker Anne Ebenretier Hubatch partners with regional vineyard growers to craft wines that demonstrate the best that the Northwest offers.

Bow & Arrow: Scott and Dana Frank’s mission is to naturally produce Loire Valley varieties in the Willamette Valley with a focus on Cabernet Franc, Gamay & Pinot Noir.

As the Collective grows, so will its community focus. Once open, the tasting bar will host large and small events, wine release parties and pop-up dinners and convert to a wine bar at night, offering happy hour specials and a light food menu. Additionally, the Collective will serve as an incubator for future wine brands and budding industry ideas.

About SE Wine Collective

The Southeast Wine Collective was founded in 2012 by Kate and Thomas Monroe of the up and coming Division Winemaking Company in response to their personal interest in creating a unique multi-faceted urban winery, coupled with increasing public interest in the urban wine movement. Their goal is to bring together like-minded wineries who are sustainably growing their businesses by establishing a venue for commercial custom crush wine production, on and off premise wine sales and events in an area of SE Portland that already hosts a thriving restaurant and nightlife scene. Currently the collective is made up of four wineries: Vincent Wine Company, Bow & Arrow Wines, Helioterra Wines and Division Winemaking Company. As the Collective grows, so will its community focus: they will open a tasting room/wine bar and host large and small events, wine release parties and pop-up dinners. Additionally, they will work to be an incubator for future wine brands and budding industry ideas. Find more information at www.sewinecollective.com or by calling 503-887-8755.

PDX Urban Wineries is holding its first Passport Tasting on Saturday, May 12, from noon-5pm. Come taste the wines of Portland as you visit our member wineries around the central city. Mom will LOVE it.

It’s easy to be part of our Passport Tasting. Simply visit any PDX UW member winery on May 12 and pick up a free passport. Get your passport stamped at each location and you’ll be entered in a drawing for some exciting gifts. Plus, the passport gets you 10% off bottle sales at all member wineries on this day only.

Member wineries without their own facilities will be guest pouring, so this event gives you a rare chance to try all our wines as you travel the wine trail of Portland. We’re even planning a casual after party at ENSO Winery at the end of the day, so you can hang out with the producers and talk trash about your favorites.

For more information, email info@pdxurbanwineries.com. Hope to see you on May 12.

PDX Urban Wineries is happy to announce our newest member, Alchemy Wine Productions. Alchemy is the work of Nic and Gracey Donahue, who moved up from Santa Barbara county to make wine in a beautiful little spot right off Powell on distillery row in SE Portland. Check out their Class Act Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley grapes, but let’s not be too local and overlook their nice syrah from grapes grown way down south.

We’re also planning a few different kinds of events this year. We’ll do the next gala tasting event with all our members on June 9. Stay tuned for details. But our latest invention is a series of quarterly passport events, the first one happening on Saturday, May 12. All of our members will be hosting special tastings on these days, so plan to hit the PDX Urban Wineries trail and hop from winery to winery to taste all the incredible wines we’re making right here in the city of Portland.

In the meantime, many of us are open for regular tasting. Come down with your friends whenever our member wineries are open and taste the wines of Portland. Are you planning to visit our fair city and looking to spend some time exploring truly local wines in addition to our world class food, beer and distilled goods? Let us know and we’ll be glad to hook you up with plans to make your Portland wine experience unforgettable.
